Charlotte Austin Bratcher

Charlotte Austin Bratcher, 64, of Hartford, passed away, Friday, January 27, 2012 at Ohio County Hospital. She was born August 12, 1947 to the late Huston Harold Austin and Dorothy Anderson Austin in Hartford, Kentucky. Charlotte was a 1965 graduate of Beaver Dam High School and went on to pursue a bachelor’s degree in nursing from Kentucky Wesleyan College and a master’s degree in nursing from Western Kentucky University. She was a nurse practitioner at Ohio County Hospital, where she has been employed for the past 40 years. She was a member of the Kentucky Nurses Association and the Kentucky Coalition of Nurse Practitioners and Nurse Midwives and a member of Liberty United Methodist Church in Beaver Dam. Charlotte loved her Lord, her family and her work.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Larry D. Bratcher, who passed away October 11, 2011 and her father, Huston Harold Austin.

Survivors include three sons, Jason L. (Jennifer) Bratcher of Hanson, KY, Jared D. Bratcher of Hartford, and Jeremy C. Bratcher of Hartford, daughter, Julie (Pat) Bratcher Francis of Beaver Dam, her mother, Dorothy Anderson Austin of Beaver Dam, two brothers, Herb Rone of Beaver Dam and Harold “Butch” Austin of Beaver Dam, one sister, Marlene Austin Catt and six grandchildren, Blake Bratcher, Kyle Bratcher, Kaylie Bratcher, Hannah Bratcher, Kaitlyn Crawford and Heath Parton.

Funeral Services will be held at 11AM Tuesday, January 31, 2012 at William L. Danks Funeral Home in Beaver Dam, with Rev. Rob Stout and Dr. Jay Smith officiating. Burial will be in Liberty Church Cemetery in Beaver Dam. Visitation will be from 5-8PM Sunday, 2-8 PM Monday and 9AM until the time of service Tuesday at the funeral home.

Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations in Charlotte’s to Ohio County Equestrian, Inc. 819 WD Leach Lane, Beaver Dam, KY 42320. This is a cause that the entire Bratcher family holds dear to their hearts.

Carl F. Embry

Carl F. Embry, 92, of Beaver Dam, died Friday, January 27, 2012, of complications from heart disease. Born before women were able to vote, he witnessed nearly a century of world events from the vantage point of a small Kentucky town, a glowing metropolitan area and the European theater of World War II where he served proudly as Gen. Dwight Eisenhower’s motorcycle escort. A member of Beaver Dam Baptist Church, he was also a Shriner and was active in Beaver Dam Masonic Lodge and Riz pah Temple.

He took great pride in his work as an electrician, and in addition to wiring homes and helping friends he retired from Brown-Foreman Distillery in Louisville, following a long career.

For 65 years he was married to Hazel R. Johnson Embry. In addition to his wife he is survived by his three children and their spouses, Karen Embry Hodges and Robert Hodges, Edward C. Embry and Joyce Embry and Patti Embry-Tautenhan and Jeff Tautenhan. He is also survived by four grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

He was a gentleman, with an unmatched determination and zest for life. He loved God, his family, his work, and the many friends he made locally and in Florida where he and his wife escaped Kentucky winters for more than 20 years.

Funeral Services will be held at 2 PM Tuesday, January 31, 2012 at William L. Danks Funeral Home in Beaver Dam with Dr. Glenn Armstrong officiating. Burial will be in Sunnyside Cemetery in Beaver Dam. Visitation will be held from 4-8 PM on Monday with Masonic Services AT 7 PM, and 9AM until the time of service Tuesday at the funeral home.

James Quentin Duncan, 69, of Louisville, passed away, Thursday, January 26, 2012 at Kindred Hospital in Louisville. He was born October 22, 1942 to the late Thomas Quentin and Ora Ree Young Duncan in Horse Branch, Kentucky.

He is survived by one brother, Ernest Duncan of Owensboro and three sisters, Mary Jo Crawford of Leitchfield, Alice Willoughby of Leitchfield and Dorothy Whitler of Centertown.

Graveside Service will be held at 11:00AM, Monday, January 30, 2012 at Cane Run Cemetery in Horse Branch. William L. Danks Funeral Home in Beaver Dam is in charge of arrangements.

Lendon B. Baggarly, 71, of Beaver Dam, passed away, Friday, January 27, 2012 at The Medical Center in Bowling Green, Kentucky. He was born June 20, 1940 to the late Bert and Alder Adkins Baggarly in Wysox, Kentucky. He was a member of Independence Baptist Church and worked as an Auto Mechanic for General Motors.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Bert and Alder Adkins Baggarly and three brothers, James “Popeye” Baggarly, Kenneth Bud Baggarly and Clyde Neal Baggarly.

He is survived by his wife, Jennie Moseley Baggarly of Beaver Dam, two sons, Dennis Baggarly of Centertown and Terry Baggarly of Beaver Dam, one daughter, Sherry (Wes) Eads of McHenry, one brother, Billy Ray Baggarly of Marysville, Indiana, one sister Shirley Baggarly Dowell of Beaver Dam, 9 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM, Sunday, January 29, 2012 at William L. Danks Funeral Home in Beaver Dam, with Rev. Lealin Geary and Rev. Jerry Toler officiating. Burial will be in Render Memorial Cemetery in McHenry. Visitation will be from 4-8PM, Saturday and 9AM until time of service on Sunday at the Funeral Home.

Lela Mae Baggarly, 93, of Beaver Dam, passed away, January 22, 2012 at Owensboro Medical Health System. She was born May 1, 1918 in Ohio County, to the late Claude and Vada Kitchens. She was a member of Cool Springs Baptist Church, and was a loving and caring Mother, Grandmother, and Great-Grandmother, as well as a dedicated homemaker.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by loving husband of 48 years, William Cecil Baggarly, who passed away April 30, 1983, her sister Gladys Moore, her two brothers, Charlie and Huston Kitchens, and her great-Grandson, William Widener.

Survivors include her son, William Glen Baggarly, two daughters, Junette M. McCormick, and Margaret Sue (Roger) Embry, all of Beaver Dam, and her sister, Anna B. Cox of Beaver Dam, as well as 9 Grandchildren, 16 Great Grandchildren, and 2 Great-Great grandchildren.

Funeral Service will be held at 1:00 PM, Wednesday, January 25, 2012, at Cool Springs Baptist Church with Reverend Gary Hines officiating. Burial will follow at Cool Springs Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4-8PM Tuesday, January 24 at William L. Danks Funeral Home, and from 9 AM until the service hour at the Church on Wednesday.

Thelma Dean Sutherlin

Thelma Dean Sutherlin, 71, formerly of Beaver Dam, passed away Tuesday, January 17, 2012 at Riverside Manor Nursing Home in Calhoun. She was born August 28, 1940 in Little Rock, Arkansas, to the late Willie and Marjorie Cochran.

She was a member of the Baptist faith, was a favorite among the Riverside nursing home staff, she enjoyed puzzles, playing cards, crochet, and she loved to travel.

She is survived by her daughter, Debbie Clark of Florida, her sons, James Sutherlin (Lilly), of San Antonio, Texas, and Rusty Sutherlin, of Beaver Dam, and her 4 Grandchildren, Daniel Clark of Louisville, Tonika Letham, of Alabama, Sara Gem Taylor, of Little Rock, and Alexander Sutherlin, of San Antonio.

Graveside Services will be held at 2:00 PM Friday, January 20, 2012 at Sunnyside Cemetery in Beaver Dam, with Reverend Terry Tarrance officiating.

Charles Everett McIntyre, 78, of Centertown, Kentucky, passed away, Monday, January 16, 2012 at Fraizer Rehab Center in Louisville, Kentucky. He was born April 14, 1933 in Ohio County, Kentucky, to the late Chester and Mary Ezell McIntyre. He attended Zion Assembly Church of God in Browder, Kentucky and was an Army Veteran of the Korean War. Charles was retired and was the former owner/operator of McIntyre Ice Company in Beaver Dam.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Chester and Mary Ezell McIntyre, two sisters, Hazel Benson and Virginia Phelps and two brothers, Eddie McIntyre and Jerry McIntyre.

Survivors include his wife, Nola Mae Raymer McIntyre of Centertown, three sons, Andy (Melissa) McIntyre of Centertown, David McIntyre of Owensboro, and Danny McIntyre of Centertown, one daughter, Patricia (Daniel) Schroader of Horse Branch, six brothers, Rev. William Kenneth “Bill” McIntyre of Beaver Dam, Willard “BoBo” McIntyre of Owensboro, Eugene McIntyre of Centertown, Conrad McIntyre of Owensboro, Danny McIntyre of Ridgefield, South Carolina, Bobby McIntyre of Reed, Kentucky, one sister, Athelene Farris of Echols, four grandchildren, Erika McIntyre, Daniel Schroader Jr., Andrea Schroader, Ayden McIntyre, and one great grandson, Bryson Black.

Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 AM, Thursday, January 19, 2011 at William L. Danks Funeral Home in Beaver Dam, with Rev. Ricky Graves officiating. Burial will be in Render Memorial Cemetery in McHenry. Visitation will be from 4-8PM, Wednesday and 9AM until the time of service on Thursday.

Royce Conley Midkiff, 71, of McHenry, passed away, Thursday, January 5, 2012 at his residence. He was born July 28, 1940 in Ohio County, KY to the late Con & Bonner Barrett Midkiff. He was of Baptist faith and a general contractor. Royce was a huge University of Kentucky sports fan who never missed a game. He also loved antiques.

Beside his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara Sue Midkiff who passed away, October 24, 2003. He was also preceded in death by three brothers, O.L. Midkiff, Barrett Midkiff and Dale Midkiff, one sister, Lucille Richardson, and five brother-in-laws, Bennie Hillard, Larry Hillard, Terry Hillard, Mick Neal and Bill Callahan.

Survivors include one daughter, Sonia (Andy) Fleener of Beaver Dam, son, Michael Midkiff of McHenry, two sisters, Betsey Neal and Barbara Callahan both of Louisville, three sister –in – laws, Ruth Wilson of McHenry, Christine Maiden of Louisville, Violet Midkiff of Lexington, four brother-in- laws, David (Shirley) Hillard of Louisville, Ed Hillard of Newburg, IN., Steve (Elaine) Hillard of Beaver Dam and Frank Richardson of Louisville. He was also blessed with one granddaughter, Cortney Fleener of Beaver Dam. Several nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral service will be held at 2:00PM, Sunday, January 8, 2012 at William L. Danks Funeral Home in Beaver Dam, with Rev. Pete Leach officiating. Burial will be in Render Memorial Cemetery in McHenry. Friends may visit with the family from 4-8PM, Saturday and 9AM until time of service Sunday at the funeral home.

Harold David Kuykendall, 83, of Beaver Dam, passed away, Wednesday, January 4, 2012 at Ohio County Hospital in Hartford. He was born January 18, 1928 in Ohio County to the late Leslie & Ethel Stewart Kuykendall. He was a retired employee of Peabody Coal Company and a member of Independence Baptist Church.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Leslie and Ethel Stewart Kuykendall, a sister, Helen Allen and a brother, Lawrence Kuykendall.

Survivors include his wife of 61 ˝ years, Ruby Anderson Kuykendall of Beaver Dam, two sons, Gerald David (Andrea) Kuykendall of Greendale, WI and Philip Alan (Wilma) Kuykendall of Lexington, KY, a daughter, Rebecca (Andrew) Miller of Gwinn, MI, three grandsons, Michael Kuykendall of Greendale, WI, Jonathon (Lynn) Kuykendall of Greendale, WI and Jesse (Molly) Kuykendall of Lexington, KY, four granddaughters, Rachel Kuykendall and fiancé Jesse Ratliff of Lexington, KY, Heather (Steve) Durr of Seattle, WA, Melanie (Jeff) Olson of Isphening, MI and Erin (Justin) Chase of Boyce City, MI, three great grandchildren, Jaxon and Cole Kuykendall and Millie Olson, brother-in-law, Jim (Ruby) Anderson, sister-in-law, Edna (Don) McKinney and several nieces and nephews.

Clement Louis Raymer Sr., 70, of Cromwell, Kentucky, passed away, Wednesday, January 4, 2012 at his home. He was born March 3, 1941 in Louisville, Kentucky, to the late Stanley Maurice and Floreda Pierce Raymer. He was a member of Oak Grove Church of God in Cromwell, Kentucky and was a section foreman for the Illinois Central Railroad.

Survivors include his wife, Charlotte Goff Raymer, two sons, Clement Louis Raymer Jr. and Joseph Louis Raymer, three daughters, Kathy Lynn Brewer, Audra Dingler and Rhonda Gaskey, two brothers, Richard Raymer and Maurice Raymer, eleven grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren.

Funeral Service will be held at 2:00PM, Friday, January 6, 2012 at Oak Grove Church of God at Cromwell, Kentucky, with Rev. David Calvert officiating. Mary Lucille Payton, 89, of Beaver Dam, KY, passed away, Wednesday, January 4, 2012 at Beaver Dam Nursing and Rehab Center. She was born June 29, 1922 in Echols, Kentucky to the late Harry and Pearl Baggerly Payton. She was of Church of God faith and was a retired factory worker for General Electric.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Harry and Pearl Baggerly Payton, one brother, Robert Payton and one sister, Louise Peay.

She is survived by her sister-in-law, Connie Payton of Horse Branch, two nieces, Varie Munford of New Albany, Indiana and Nannie Smith of Owensboro, Kentucky and several great nieces and nephews.

Graveside Service will be held at 11:00AM Saturday, January 7, 2012 in Sunnyside Cemetery with James Robert Munford officiating. William L. Danks Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Edgar Lee Black, Jr., 60 of Auburndale, FL., passed away, Thursday, December 22, 2011. He was born May 20, 1951 to the late Edgar Lee Black Sr. and Janie Moore Decker in Beaver Dam, Kentucky.

He is preceded in death by his father, Edgar Lee Black Sr. and his sister, Paulette Shaffer.

Survivors include his wife, Marilyn Johnson Black of Auburndale, FL, his mother, Janie Black Decker of Beaver Dam, a step-daughter, Karen Caywood of Georgetown, Kentucky, three granddaughters, Leandra, Kimberlyn and Laina Caywood all of Georgetown, Kentucky, a step-brother, Dale Decker of Beaver Dam, a step-sister, LaDona Abney of Beaver Dam and a nephew, Shawn Shaffer of Ft. Lauderdale, Florida.

Celebration of Life will be held Friday, January 6, 2011 at 6:00 PM at William L. Danks Funeral Home in Beaver Dam with Frank Grafton and Bro. Recie Young officiating.
