IN MEMORY OF:
Sue Ann (Williams) Robbins

Sue Ann (Williams) Robbins, age 73, of Mt. Vernon, IL left this life to be with the Lord on Saturday morning November 29, 2014 at St. Mary's Good Samaritan Hospital in Mt. Vernon surrounded by the love of her family. Sue was born on February 1, 1941 in Mt. Vernon, Illinois the daughter of Gerald and Maisye (Minor) Williams. On April 21, 1961 she married Leslie C. Robbins and they celebrated 50 years of marriage before he preceded her in death on July 17, 2011.

She is survived by her daughter, Lee Ann Lackey and husband George; grandson Daniel Morton; two great-grandchildren, Caydence and Jackson Morton; brother-in-law Mark Robbins and wife Sharon; niece Megan Robbins and several cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents and husband.

Sue was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Mt. Vernon. She worked as a telephone operator and at Prudential Insurance. She then worked for Dr. Curtis A. Parker for many years. She also worked for Dr. Terry Clarke, as a switchboard operator at Western Union, and at Comprehensive Services. After retirement she volunteered for the Good Samaritan Auxiliary, where she made many lasting friendships, until failing health.

Sue was the heart of her family. She cared for everyone around her from her mother during her failing health, raising her grandson as a teenager, caring for her husband who suffered from Muscular Dystrophy, and caring for both in-laws toward the end of their lives on earth. She nursed them through failing health, physical obstacles, and instilled love, compassion, morals, and spirituality in her daughter, grandson, and great grandchildren.

She faced her illness with strength, courage and the love and prayers of her family and friends. She spent her life caring for and helping family and others, and will be greatly missed by her family and everyone who loved her.

Memorial Funeral Service for Sue Ann Robbins will be held 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, December 10, 2014 at First United Methodist Church in Mt. Vernon with Rev. Victor Long and Rev. Bill Causer officiating. Visitation will be from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. Wednesday at the church. There will be no graveside service.
