Thomas Paul McNeal

Thomas Paul McNeal, 70, of Centralia, Illinois passed away at 8:45 P.M. Friday, July 29, 2016 at his residence. He was born Wednesday, February 6, 1946 in Rock Island, Illinois to parents, Willard Eugene "Gene" & Helen Jane (Hawkins) McNeal. He married Deborah Katheryn "Barbee" Dickinson on November 12, 2005 in Salem, Illinois and she survives.

A Funeral Service will be held at 7:00 P.M. Tuesday, August 2, 2016 at Newell Funeral Home in Waltonville, Illinois with Chaplain Ernie Collins officiating. Members of the Mount Vernon American Legion Post #141 will conduct a Military Flag Presentation.

Per his request, Mr. McNeal will be cremated after his service.

A Visitation will be from 5:00 to Service Time 7:00 P.M. Tuesday, August 2, 2016 at Newell Funeral Home in Waltonville, Illinois with Chaplain Ernie Collins officiating.

Mr. McNeal is survived by his wife: Deborah McNeal of Centralia, Illinois, mother: Jane McNeal of Rock Island, Illinois, 2 daughters: Melanie Cox and husband Steve of Tulsa, Oklahoma and Wendy Erhart and husband Doug of Maryville, Illinois, step daughter: Amy Dickinson of Cleveland, Tennessee, 4 grandchildren: Kyle McNeal, Ashley Boker and husband Robert, Emily Narlock, and Kaitlyn Cambell, great granddaughter: Lexi Boker, and 2 brothers: Mike McNeal and wife MaryAnn of Sperry, Oklahoma and Dennis McNeal and wife Linda of Rock Island, Illinois.  Several nieces and nephews also survive.

His father and granddaughter: Allyson Narlock preceded him in death.

Mr. McNeal served the United States Air Force during Vietnam. He worked as a mechanic and was employed by Centralia Township Office and a former paramedic for Life Star Ambulance. Thomas was a member of The Rock Church in Centralia and was a car enthusiast and was a former race car driver.

For those who wish, memorials may be given to the Shriner’s Hospitals for Children and will be accepted at the funeral home or mailed to Newell Funeral Home, 2707 North Street, Mount Vernon, Illinois 62864.
